Comfort from God (through Spurgeon)

I think God knows that I need some comfort from him since last night, so when I read Spurgeon's Daily Help on my iPhone as usual this morning, the passage does lift my heart:

"Why go I mourning?" Psalm 42:9
Canst thou answer this, believer? Canst thou find any reason why thou art so often mourning instead of rejoicing? Why yield to gloomy anticipations? Who told thee that the night would never end in day? Who told thee that the winter of thy discontent would proceed from frost to frost, from snow to ice, and hail, to deeper snow, and yet more heavy tempest of despair? Knowest thou not that day follows night, that flood comes after ebb, that spring and summer succeed to winter? Hope thou then! Hope thou ever! for God fails thee not.

Thank you, my dear Lord! Thou art worthy my praise!

感激26年來妳給我的愛

第一次以老師身份參加謝師宴

不是沒有學生請過我吃飯，也不是第一次受到邀請，只是過往都因種種原因沒有參加，到今年總算能體驗有生以來第一次以老師身份參加謝師宴，別有一番滋味在心頭。

其實對我來說，這也算是我半個多謝老師的謝師宴，因為當中有三位也是當年我重回校園念書時曾經教過我的老師，而當中的Programme Leader後來更邀請了我加入他這個課程的教學團隊，三年多來我已經先後在這個課程教過三個半科目了！當年我中途退學轉讀了碩士，不知道舊同學有否攪過謝師宴，今晚這個場合正好讓我也趁機會多謝他們。學生要求所有人都帶備一份能代表參與這個課程的感受的禮物交換，我就買了一枝LAMY的Logo Stainless Steel原子筆，價錢雖不算貴（但也算是我買過其中一枝最昂貴的了！），但意義倒深呢！我這樣將感受寫在便條上（省去了課程名稱）：

我用這支筆代表我在這個課程裡學與教的體驗：

1. 2001年我回歸校園念這個課程，那一年半間所寫的文章，可能
　要比自己過去從事graphic communications design的所有年頭
　加起來還多！

2. 在這個課程一年半的學習生涯裡面，除了寶貴的學習經驗外，
　我最真珍而重之的，就是跟當年同屆同學們的emails。到今天，
　我還保留著當時約1,500封emails，裡面保留著我跟同學間的
　深厚情誼，有歡笑、有爭拗、有眼淚、有安慰。我常這樣想：
　終有一天我會找到一個出版這些文本的理由。

3. Programme Leader於2007年起找我在這個課程任教，到現在
　已經分別任教過三個半科目，是挺好的教學經驗！其中透過
　emails寫給學生的reminders、答問（tutorials和對評分的
　解釋）、comments、警告等，都花了我不少時間。我注意自己
　在寫這些emails的時候，我興幸自己還有那團追求卓越的火。
　我問自己為甚麼還有這團火，相信除了是上帝給我能力之外，
　也應該是被這個課程薰淘所致。它獨特的intellectual文化，
　是學院其它programmes所沒有的。多謝這個課程！

P.S. 這個課程也為我帶來了第一次謝師宴，謝謝！
